Uline Ice maker cold but no ice

I turned on the Uline yesterday.  It got really cold made approx. 10 cubes of ice, but that was all.  Any ideas what to check.  I assume it may be the water valve?  Does anyone know of a way to test?  Also, are parts for these units available?

Parts readily available. Confirm water supply is on to unit, may be valve under seat

That is the primary symptom of a bad 'mold heater'. This is the heater within the ice tray that allows the ice cubes to come out. You can replace just the mold heater, or the entire assembly. I think Rudy had a line on the best price for the entire assembly. Foretravel used to have the best price on the mold heater. Make sure is includes a tube of Alumaseal - an aluminum powder impregnated potting caulk. There is a writeup on the procedure on Barry Beam's website. Several threads on it here too.

I do have a Marine Wholesale Distributor friend that carries U-Line Ice Makers and all parts.

Let me know if I can help obtaining parts.

I found this online:
Check your ice bucket. If it is not inserted properly, then the sensor beam may be blocked and cause the ice maker not to cycle.
Does anyone know if the incorrect bucket will cause this issue on the uline.  I have not invested 35 bucks in a bucket, thought I would wait until the unit was working.  Could  this be the problem?

On our 03 with the 1492 refer, we do not have an ice bucket in the freezer and the other day the bail got pushed down and when I opened the freezer door the next day there were ice cubes all over the place, so don't think the ice bucket will make the difference. The ice maker just has to see a certain coldness to be able to function. If you only got 10 cubes, sounds like there was water in the ice maker and when it got cold enough it dumped the ice out, but apparently did not get any more water into the tray to freeze.

Jerry,
As Tim mentioned, check the water valve under the sink.  If this is open, put your finger into the tray up close to the water fill tube to see if there is any water in the tray.  If there's no water in the tray, the water fill solenoid is probably the culprit.  It is located just to the right of the condenser coils at the bottom of the U-line.  It is blue plastic and easy to get to and to identify. Not very expensive.  I replaced mine in less than 15 minutes.  If you feel ice in the tray, then the heater assembly beneath the ice tray may be the problem.  Make sure the metal wire that turns off the maker when the ice tube is full is completely down (vertical) touching the side of the ice tray.  If the wire is the least bit lifted, the tray won't heat up and dump the ice.

I forgot to mention that the U-Line does not need a bucket in the compartment to make and/or dump ice.  It will continue to make ice until the wire is lifted by the pile of ice or by you.

You can take off the front cover of the icemaker inside the white square part. Take a pliers and turn the gear a bit and you can watch it operate. It will dump and fill with water. You can see what your problem is. That is the process for winterizing it jsut do not put the pink stuff in and water is a bit harder to see but it will work to see if it is the water or the mold heater.

Thanks for the info.  I pulled the ice maker last night and put it on the bench.  Much easier to see what is going on.  Hopefully today I will find time to check it out and get the parts ordered.
