Extended Living in a Foretravel

Well, I have owned FTs for about 13 years now.  The longest stay in one has been about 8 weeks a coupe times.  This current stay will exceed that but I have to say the it is very comfy and it works well.  The addition of the new fridge made a huge difference too.  It is hard to actually quantify but it is more like home in the storage and food stuff we buy.  Before it was always will this fit and get the smaller one and go back again in a week or less and restock. This is more like hoe living and shop every couple weeks.  The one thing FT might consider is the grey water bypass switch. It would be nice to have it inside so when running the washer, especially at night, you can bypass the tanks.  I know and did pull the handle when we are running loads of laundry but the smaller size means lots of loads. One other thing that might be nice to see is an electric water pump especially to pressurize the park water or to use tank water on auto fill and pump the water to the coach from the tank.  I think those two improvements, while we can work around them and are not critical can add to long term living in the coach.

We have not stayed that long in our coach but we eat all fresh foods and it was very difficult with the RV fridge. The 25 CF residential fridge does allow shopping without worrying about whether it will fit.

Yes we went to lots of fresh food and veggies. Could not do it in the old dometic as easily.

We went pretty much to plant food, with occasional seafood. This is what started us on that road:

John,

By "tank water", do you mean external water tank? We have a 2nd water pump that we have occasionally (like at the Lemon Rally) used to pump water from an external container into our fresh water tank.

Foretravels sure are comfy homes on wheels. And we (& lots of others) also use our Foretravels the same you. (except we are reversed with our longest stay being 13 years and our shortest stay 8 weeks).

We also think changing to a residential fridge was one of the best improvements we have made.

John, we operate like that on a regular basis. We have use a 28VAC boost pump and shut off valve to pressurize incoming water through the RO filters. It shuts off when the fresh water tank is full. If we are hooked to water, it keeps the fresh water tank full and we use the "regular" 12VDC water pump for "house" water. You could do the same system without the RO filters. You really wouldn't even need the boost pump. You could do it with a float switch and a 12VDC water valve for the incoming fresh water.

that is an interesting idea. I will have to look at putting a float switch and boost pump. I usually live off the tank water but being a bit under the weather you forget to fill it. I have left the grey tank open and that solves the issues with the washing machine too but the n it empties the tank.  So I need to think this a bit more.  I like the suggestions, thanks JD and Barry or is it Cindy.
