How much water should be in the toilet? Microflush LF-220

We have a Microflush LF-220 12V DC Half Gallon Toilet.  Since we purchased our coach I haven't been very happy with the water level in the toilet.  Having never owned an electric toilet before, I'm not really sure what the correct water level should be.  Inside where the tank would be, is a dial which is cranked up to the max of 10.  With it set on 10, I'm estimating there is about 1 1/4 cups of water in the bowl.  If I set it on the lowest setting of 2, there is literately a couple of tablespoons of water in the bowl.  And when the bowl is filling, it's just a tiny trickle of water.  Is this correct?

Attached are two photos, the first is taken with the dial on 5.  The water is about 2/3 of the way up the flapper.  The second photo was taken with the dial on 10.  The water is about 7/8 the way up the flapper, but not all the way up it.

Tomorrow, I want to try to tackle the toilet, so I'm hoping to get some info.  If this isn't' correct, any idea on what might be the problem?  Debris in the lines?

It doesn't seem to make any difference if we are running off the tank and pump or off city water.  Pretty much the same amount of water makes it to the bowl.

Thanks!!!!

Oh and feel free to post pictures of your toilet for comparison.  :o

Hi ScubaGuy,

Sure sounds as though you have something not functioning. I can observe about 3 inches of water at the highest  setting. The troubleshooting guide says there is a water filter screen at the stool water inlet.

And I believe you must lubricate the O ring or the toilet will leak.  Just saying.. Been there and have the wet towels to prove it!

There is a screen at the water inlet to the water fill valve.
The water level in mine was set to just cover the top of the flush (flap) valve.

Thanks, sounds like I can make some improvements.  ^.^d  I'm going to try to tackle this sometime tomorrow afternoon.  I can't believe I'm happy to know my toilet isn't working right, but I am.  :o

You may also have a problem with the control itself. We had the same issue, not enough water to flush, had to replace the module. Not a real big deal as far as replacing the thing but it is the priciest part to replace.

Success!!!!

I tore apart the toilet today.  First thing I found was the line from the vacuum breaker to the overflow hose was moldy and clogged (photo 1).  Little or no water was getting thru this line.  I took out the vacuum breaker and tossed it in the ultrasonic cleaner.  While it was taking a bath (photo 2), I disassembled and cleaned the solenoid (photo 3).  I never found a screen.  I also had a nagging feeling I had not found my problem yet.

So I kept poking and I found a water pressure regulator (photo 4)!!!!  :o  No one mentioned that would be in there.  No mention of it in the manual.  I took it out and I was off to home depot to find something to replace it with.  A 1/2" x 5" brass nipple would have worked perfectly but they only have 4" or 6".   So I improvised a replacement (photo 5).  I installed the "nipple" and replaced the over flow fill tube.  Reconnected all the wiring, and nothing.  Dead!!!  :headwall:

Eventually, I figured out, I had accidently unplugged the switch.  Once it was re-attached, it flushed and we had water.    Lots and lots of water.  WOW!!!!!  It was like a river in the toilet (photo 6). :))  I honestly had no idea, it's like a real toilet!!!  I now have it set on 5 (photo 7) and there's more water than before, when it was set on 10!!!

We are happy campers tonight.

P.S.  If I don't mention Amanda washed the entire motorhome, while all I did was work on the toilet I might get some grief.

Now that you know how it works, every time you push that handle you will see in your mind what is going on in there!
