Chassis air leakdown prevention valves

My tech guru buddy says that my coach should not drop the air the dash gauges show past 60 psi or so.

Something about prevention valves?  Anyone have any input on my 97 u320?

Protection Valves on Front and Rear tanks stop at 60psi unless there is a leak in the brake system.

Both tanks drop identically.  Where would you look?

See I knew Barry knew....

I am in the middle of trying to find this out myself. I thought it would be easier to fix this then the leveling leaks but it is proving to be elusive. I have soap sprayed the parts I can reach. I have cleaned the ABS valves of all the road grime but I could not see any bubbles on it. :-(

I'll take a stab at this one, , my coach will leak down in to zero in about a week. A while back I replaced the valves on the front tanks, did not do the "wet tank" in the rear. If I were going to continue to look for leaks start back around the compressor, air drier and wet tank "rear air tank", and any fittings in the tanks themselves. Once the protection valves cut the air off at 60 PSI the leak will likely be on the fill side if the tank, you may also want to check the fittings on the air guages and parking brake behind the dash.

When checking the parking brake valve on the dash soap it up and then move the handle side to side.  This may be the cause of your leak and it will show up better with slight side pressure on it.

My bet is that the step, assuming it is an air driven step, or the air line valve, for airing up the tires, has a small leak.

My air pressure drops fairly fast and I know that the foot brake valve has leaks on all the ports but I cannot get to it to tighten the 90 deg fittings. I think the gen has to come out of the way. I spray it with soapy water and big bubbles all over!!
Hopefully I can get my pit dug in the next month or so so I can access all those hard to reach places. Right now all my time is spent working on Geoffs GV renovating the interior and fixing a few things.

Obscure corners seem logical.  Love the thoughts.  My kid is a tech.  Will give him a list of places to look.  Keep it coming.  Every place a union occurs its likely to leak.

Air foot brake

Parking/spring safety brake yellow handle which I remember replacing for a customers coach in the 80's

The notorious step air cylinders where the water pooled in my coach.

Leaks at the gauges themselves.  Good one.  Its always the last place you look.  Why?  Because you stop looking......

I used to be so happy when I turned on my new 80's Foretravels in the morning on my lot and the dash air gauges had not moved.  Made my day.

Sold them with no leaks.  Possible now.  How bad do you want perfect?
