Body panel screws

Anyone know where to get the screws that are used on the moulding strips etc. Geoff needs some to replace a bunch but he wants Stainless- around 1 1/2" long. They are not the standard shaped head by the looks of it.

John, I deal with a screw and bolt company here in Conyers by the name of Anderson Screw and Supply.  They have always had anything that I have needed.  I could not find a website but here is what I could find.

I believe the original screws are oval head stainless with painted heads (I think #8 x 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" long).  I don't know where you can find painted ones.
I replaced mine with stainless flatheads(McMaster-Carr) because a few of my bay doors swung up so far that the door would make contact and leave a Phillips head mark on the door.
I know when you pull out the old ones they don't look like stainless because of the rust on them but that is just from the steel wall tubing - an indication that the screws or molding need be resealed.

I had great success getting the ones I needed from FT.  They could probably send you a sack full of what ever you wanted and they would be the right ones.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz

SS ovalheads are not hard to find.

Dip them in denatured alcohol and spray with white paint. Easy to do-- stick them into a piece of cardboard so the heads are accessible for spraying the paint.

What I'm running into with the oval head screws, is that the older belt moldings are countersunk more generously, with a larger radius than the new replacement belt course from FT.  There appears to be two choices...let the screw heads stand a bit proud, or re-countersink the new moldings, breaking the integrity of the paint.  Smaller screws would fit the new belt course but not the existing pilot holes.  I may end up just replacing it all in order to get it to match, along with new pilot hole locations.
