Inexpensive Remote Control IR Repeater

Found a very nice inexpensive IR repeater that comes with processor, one sensor (receiver) and six flashers (transmitters), so it can control 6 different devices.

This a wired unit, similar in function to what factory installs in Foretravels.  We installed it today, price is right and it works very well.

Radio Shack item number 1500458,  $29.99.  http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=20198406

Our need for an IR repeater:

Long ago we changed our bedroom TV to flat panel and recently wanted to install a separate DVD player in the bedroom.  All of the players use IR remotes and I did not want to build a shelf or have the DVD player out in the open.  Lots of room behind the flat panel bedroom TV for DVD players & satellite receivers.  So by having the small IR repeater receiver sticking out around the TV, facing the bed and the flasher transmitters in behind TV, we can operate the devices located out of sight from the bed.

And the space behind the TV already has an electrical 120-volt outlet for the TV, so we added a power strip for the new stuff and TV itself.  Easy to turn everything off when dry camping.

Radio Shack came through for us.

Barry,
What is the little round flashing eye under the bedroom tv?
I had been thinking it was an IR sensor of some sort.

Elliott & Mary,

Every coach is different. You may have an IR receiver eye that connects to an IR control unit that connects to IR transmitter flashers. For a bedroom remote to use a bedroom eye, its flasher must be positioned in front of the device you are trying to control. If you can change front devices from bedroom with bedroom door closed, you may have an IR sensor.

Also most coaches have a rear roof air thermistor temperature sensor in the bedroom that looks like a slotted dome.
