A 2014 America Coach for sale at FOT

Looking over the sale coaches I saw a 2014 coach (AmericanCoach) for sale. It even had the stickers on the couch still. They must gave bought it and drove it straight there to buy a Foretravel.

We are glad that they realized their mistake in buying an SOB and went to Foretravel.

I believe that is correct. 3400 miles convinced them there is more to a coach than pretty decor and they bought a FT. It was there when we were there a few weeks ago.

Reminds me of the days we had boats. Some are real pretty at the boat show but a few days on the lake makes the difference in quality pretty obvious.

The story answer just might have been missed in the detail photos.

A shot of the dash showed "low fuel level". Some trade when the ash trays are full, maybe others when the tank is empty.

Dave M had a good point. But the rear shot seems to show red and other colored items thru the rear grill. The interior shot of the rear bedroom bath shows a floor hatch in the tile floor over the engine, and it did not look to be very large.

The wide shots of the living area, look like with the slide inboard, that the ducted roof air vents are covered by the slide ceilings. Wonder how well the AC cools when the slides are retracted. And the slide floors are not tile, like in the Foretravels. Certainly some differences in design features.

It may be built and engineered poorly, but you have to give them credit for a great & functional interior layout without being Gaudi.

I walked by that coach many times during our week at Camp Foretravel during ladies driving school and subsequent week of various maintenance and repair items. I never looked inside it, but what I couldn't help noticing about it every time I walked by the passenger side, was rumpled looking fiberglass above the entry door as the roof curves over. It looked pretty shoddy to me... Especially for a more than half $1 million!

I noticed it on the web page the day they posted it and within a week it was saying sold. Then it said available again. Strange.

Nice looking unit, wonder how they keep the freezer drawer from coming out in the turns. Not obvious from picture. May have had a few warranty problems that turned off the owner, or maybe it was in a debt settlement, or who knows.

Someone took a haircut I would suspect...

I have worked on many of the American coaches and they have side radiators. Most of the newer ones have a combination of air leveling and also hydraulic leveling. I much prefer the foretravel in all respects.

If that buggy has a side radiator It sure would amaze me due to the total lack of area for the ISX600 plus the back end sure do look more fittin for a radiator, either way, I am delighted I will not be playing it.

Dave, you are probably just used to seeing the radiator on the passenger side which Foretravel seems to do exclusively. Almost all other makes put them on the drivers side. My old boss at Country Coach pointed that out to me one day -most engines have the cooling system connections on the drivers side. I haven't figured out why Foretravel does it on the passengers side.

Without sticking my head into that buggy, i think your correct, a brilliant setup with such a small radiator, compare with the IH45 for radiator size. No wonder it became a USED consignment at such a young age. Another got the severe education, I guess.

Tim, looked at a 2014 Newmar that had a residential frig that had a slide lock above the freezer door that locked the freezer and the two frig doors. Didn't think to get a part number of frig., but obviously made for RV's.

I just noticed that this coach has a PENDING label on it on the FOT website. Makes me wonder about the logic of buying a SOB at the FT factory lot. Assume he got a too-good-to-pass-up deal. I also don't think he had done much research. Just second guessing buyer logic.

That American coach is sold and will be delivered Weds. the fifth , as per Lance . Lance said the owner always wanted a Foretravel and wished he had never bought it in the first place . He said it just could not measure up .So now he has a new IH and is very happy . Brad Metzger

I just installed a residential fridge. I found out that some RV manufacturers install two Southco Grabber Catch Latches on their residential fridges so the doors stay shut. They made them in 3-lb, 5-lb and 10-lb levels of resistance. I got two of the 10-lb latches, I could have gotten away with the 5-lb. They were around $20 for both on eBay.

Thanks for the link. We're looking for a residential refrigerator now, and I've been wondering how we will be able to keep the doors closed while traveling. Looks like you found the solution.
