Fault Code on Xantrex

Hi Again folks

    OK am learning, the hard way, that I should check before..........
    In trying to help us get underway I pull the electric cord out before shutting off the breaker at the post. When I came back into the coach the telltale beeping indicated a situation? had occurred. The readout said FAULT 206 SYSTEM SHUTDOWN" .  We're plugged in at our new location and seem to have adequate power but system Shutdown still indicates there's a situation. The manual is multipaged and am not reading in the trouble shooting area an easy fix.    Any thoughts out there?

Not sure what you mean by pulling cord before shutting breaker... But the comment brings up a warning when plugging or unplugging 50-amp plugs. 50-amp male plug center flat (neutral) prong must always go in first and come out last, to prevent 240-volt being present where there should only be 120-volts. The only way to guarantee success is to always connect and disconnect with campground 50-amp breaker turned off. This is not necessary for 30-amp plugs because they only carry 120-volts.

For the 2500 watt model Zantrex you might try a soft reset...shut off the very small switch on the side to "bypass" for 60 seconds then change it back to normal again. If that doesn't help, do a hard reset...disconnect the 120 volts and the DC cables for 60 seconds.

Good luck because most of them are not repairable. Maybe Gary Omel will chime in with me more suggestions. Be sure to tell us what model of inverter/charger you have.

I am generally rather spooky when it comes to electricity ... so I always make sure all the breakers in the box are turned off before I plug in or out.  And I ALWAYS use the SurgeGuard (or EMS) unit, even if it is a quick overnight.  It has saved us more than once ... and I depend on it!

   Jim gave you good advise but on the hard reset,, You should have the bypass switch off, remove the 120 v, then disconnect the 12 v, ( best way is unhook the positive line behind the DC panel in the big bay), wait several min., then reconnect the 12 v,( there will be a brief arc when the connection is made ,so be ready for it)  then turn on the bypass  to see if the inverter works, then plug into shore power to check the charger.
