GV with torsilastic and stabilizers !!

Just thought I would mention this as it took a bit of digging. If you have a GV that has front and rear Stabilizer bars-check the bushings out. The 240 I now have has them- HAD them as they are worn out/gone. These are the lower Neoprene washers that are similar to your truck etc ones except that these bars etc were designed for Foretravel and parts are not readily available. I talked to Mike Grimes at FT and he gave me the name of Co in Calif that supplied them as FT do not have them. I called Hellwig and talked to a Tech there and he is sure he found the correct parts. They are UPS-ing them to me so should have them by middle of next week. Once they arrive I will make sure they fit and will put the #s online for others if needed. Hellwig do not sell to public so they will have to be ordered from a supplier near you?? I am lucky as I am getting them direct for free-16 pieces + shipping. Good PR ( Lets hope they are right)

John,

You mention replacing the lower sway bar end link bushings. You also need to replace the uppers. Total of 8 of exactly the same polyurethane bushings needed front AND back. This is a normal wear item-- and is in need of replacement on many coaches.

Very easy to do, no heavy lifting involved. Also, good idea to lube the main bar bushings while you are there. Water proof grease like for boat trailers (the green sticky stuff) is recommended.

Brett, you (as usual) are correct about doing top and bottom, which is what I will be doing as I have 16 coming, I just did not mention it in post.
Thanks also for suggestion on lubing the others, so will do. All VERY easy now with the "Pit" of course.
This "hole in the ground" is making life so much easier for me and gives me unhindered access to everything. When I turn the coach around to do engine etc work I will be taking all the electrics off by coach battery as there is a lot of rust and corrosion around all. I also do not think the Boost solenoid is working so be able to do that from below too now. I will then look at making some sort of cover for them to protect.. Every coach owner should have a pit.

I tried to put one in my basement storage but it wouldn't fit.

My GV 29' only has one and it's on the rear. Think I'll do research and see if I can add one up front.

Check, but on the 1993 U240, I was able to relocate all the electricals from behind the driver's rear wheel to the "electrical compartment" under the foot of the bed.

Just disconnected and labeled each wire, moved the metal panel with all the electrics on it to the front of the electrical compartment, routed all the wires through a 2" ID hole/hose in the compartment floor and reconnected. As I recall, all wires were long enough that no cut and splice was needed. Sure a nicer place for electrical components.

Will check that possibility out once I get the coach turned around. I took those clamps and bushings off the bar as you suggested and put the grease on. The top stabilizer bushings are in excellent shape, just had to tighten the top nuts up to stop a touch of movement. I will save those in case Geoff needs them on his 240. Bushings should arrive wednesday so once I get them on I will reverse the coach and work on drive train things. Gotta find out why that Allison retarder is not working right and the cruise issue I spoke to you about too.
