12 volt air compresser

Good Morning everyone;

Can someone tell me the MFG of the 12v air compresser used by FT for use in tire service. Is there more that one provider and a model number would help also.

Thanks
Norm

Norm,

The aux compressor isn't really there for tire service, it's for slide seals, leveling, etc.  I believe the upper cutoff is around 95 psi (plus it's lower flow capacity).  If you need to air up the coach tires you're better off using the main engine compressor.

             Hello Norm,
      I wasn't paying attention when I responded to your post this morning. (only running on one cup of coffee) ::)
                    Michelle is exactly right, if your looking only to air tires the engine is your best bet. Have you looked in all the bays to see if there is an air chuck already there? Many coach's came standard with them. Mine did not so I had FOT install a chuck in the rear compartment. It works fine and I also added a hose reel as well. I run the engine on high idle when filling tires.

              Of course another option that works is to carry a 110v compressor that has enough capacity to do the job too.

              Hope this helps,  Dean

Thanks guys;

I don't think the U270's came with that air outlet. I do not recall seeing one in the bays.

Was in Mardens Thurs in Waterville and they have a dual tank Emglo (110v) with 150 psi. $150. The genset will work that fine. I referenced Mardens because I know Michelle knows that store.

I did look up that Thomas TA-4101, WOW $900, a small Viair 12v that will do 37 inch tires is $300. Looks like the Emglo may be the way to go.

With going west this spring I don't want to hit the road without something. Almost all of the service stations now have those air pumps that you have to keep dropping quarters into. Not to mention that do not get to 100 lbs.

Michelle, we will be in Nac in May, anything you want from up here? If so PM to me.

Norm

It was standard on my 2002 U270.

I purchased this unit to get the 150lb pressure and fast recovery and it has done very well for my foretravel tires. It builds pressure very fast and has a reserve tank built in.
I have not used it to air a tire up from 0 air but do tope off my tires to 100 lb. regularly.
I believe it was about 99.00 then.

@Norm you might want to read this discussion on Nitrogen in tires that turned into a talk on PowerTank. A PowerTank or generic version is a great way to go. Small, quick and easy.
