Thinking of used Foretravel Purchase!

We have over 50K on our 2007 Forest River Georgetown and have been looking to purchase a Tuscany. However, DW has seen information on used 40 ft Foretravels. I could only afford up to 2008 without problems. What, if any, problems do 2007 thru 2009 Foretravels have? Since I know nothing about them (other than they are expensive) what should I look out for?

I do not know of any problems in those years. They are the on the new travel ride chassis and are well built. I have not seen any major problems crop up.  THey are new enough so that there is not a huge amount of remods done but in talking to the guys at the factory even the new coaches they sell have some changes done to please the new owners.  You will be very happy in a FT and it is leaps an bounds above the tuscany.  It is not always what you see but what you do not see that shows the quality.  I have 152,000 miles on my current unit and plan I will get about 500K min before I trade.

Thanks, but I will try to stay at the 40' length so we can get into our garage which is 43' inside the frames.

First welcome to the forum.  There are lots of very experienced members here to help.

Second, know that you could move the back wall out, no need to add slab, as nothing of the extra footage of the coach would touch the floor at the back.  Hope that helps, as in if their is a will, there is a way. ;)  I am stuck on 36', as I have to parallel park in a building, a 40' would be really tight.

Excellent idea. An older FT is still spendy because it's still a great coach. I towed my car on a flatbed for the first time the other day, and it was our base of operations and it did everything asked of it without fuss and without drama or babysitting. It is 25 years old and can stll do front line work. Fantastic. Buying one as new as you're looking at, should be considered a family heirloom if it's taken care of properly. I'd love to see what the new ones are like, if the old vets are this good.

We are extremely happy with our 40 ft 1995 U320. Even though it is nearly 20 years old and has over 160,000 miles it is still in excellent condition. The quality of the design and craftsmanship shows through in every area. I am certain you will be extremely happy with a Foretravel.

My coach is the same as DJ's and I have the same experience.  Once you have a Foretravel you can update it at will.  The basic structure is that well built.  It's not a throw away coach like so many are today.  If you were to do a life cycle cost analysis the Foretravel would come out on top I believe.  You will have had the enjoyment of a luxury coach with the peace of mind that a quality built unit brings and a high resale value.

We are on our 3rd Foretravel...nuff said....know of some owners who have owned 8 Foretravels.  Turns into a love story..

I have a 2006 Phenix 42 ft and we love it. If a 42 ft will fit in your shed I would look at it hard as you can have the tag axle on it without giving up storage like you would for a tag on a 40 ft.  We have had no issues with our 2006 model.
