water heater switch location for electrical

I have a 1998 U270 that according to everything I have read the switch for the electrical element is on the left side of the bed. It is not there. The original paper work says it has one, but where the switch is who knows. It is driving me crazy. Mike Rodgers at MOT says it is there at the front of the bed. So the next time we are at MOT, I will ask him to show me.
In the mean time all suggestions will be appreciated. John

John, Should be two switches on the end of the bed, one is water heater and the other is engine block heater.

Gary that is what making me crazy. Only the block heater switch.

Does the water heater model number end with an "E"?
E for electric.
Also is there a port hole in the bulkhead between the water heater and the next compartment?
If so look at the back of the water heater for the metal box mounted over the electric element .

The paperwork on my 97 U270 shows that it has motor aide and electric hot water heater,it ain't there.

My '90 U280 has only one bed pedestal switch also, and it's for the block heater.
I discovered the electric connection to the water has a loose wire hangin in the air, so the electric side doesn't work.
The attached pic shows the Atwood model number definitions.
Electric is the 'C'.

Ah,
I wonder if the "E"on the end would indicate electric ignition ?

Our U270 coach did not come with electric heating on our propane only hot water tank.  The front of bed, near floor, near curb side had a rectangular hole cut out for a 120-volt hot water tank wall switch but the hole was carpeted over. After opening bed, looking from inside of the electrical compartment, I could see the empty hole. We later used the hole for a new 120-volt 'not on inverter' outlet.

We soon added a 6-gallon Hot Rod element that fit into original tank drain hole for electric heating. Used 6-gallon size as drew fewer amps than 10 gallon size, so we could better use it if we were plugged into a 20-amp campground outlet, it just took a little longer to heat tank.

We recently installed a new hot water tank that was purchased with electric heat.

Well it looks like no matter how similar our coaches look there are all kinds of differences.  I recall being amazed when I learned that the 270's had only one furnace.  Remember I have a 95 U280 which was the last of the GV production except for some special units and I have everything that a 320 has except Aquahot and a retarder joystick.  Go figure.
And..... Mine is for sale.
