VDO gauge replacement

Starting a new thread to hopefully get some responce.
I took out the odomenter from the 95 240 as it was not registering distance travelled since I picked up coach. I have sent it to a VDO repair shop and they now tell me it is "toast" as no parts available to fix it.
I am going to get a new digital one but as the old one is analog has anyone done this change over and what wiring was needed to make the new work with the old wiring???

Too long ago to remember, but when I replaced my VDO analog with digital it came with instructions.  Don't remember anything terribly complex about it.

Hi John,

I had to replace the analog unit on my 95 U300 about a year ago and, as I recall there were no wiring changes required. The coach and service records, are currently in local storage, but I'll try to get to them in the next few days to confirm. Can also provide the source for my replacement which was quite a bit less expensive than other quotes.

Mine has the digital odo display, this is the second one and it is getting flakey. I have another new one on the shelf. Seems to me I remember something awhile back about a lot of problems with them.
