Haiers Residential Refrigerator

I'm in the finally stage of installing a Haier residential refrigerator in my 1998 Foretravel U270 34 ft.  The installation was a non event.  I added 3/4" plywood over the old floor and 1 1/4 styrene inulation to the roof area.  Do not allow the insulation to block the back vent area.  The fridge slide in without any modification to the sides of the opening.  If the fridge would have been a 32nd inch wider I would have had to shave the sides.  As it worked out the sides will not require any trim.  I allowed the main body of the fridge protrude 1.75 inches from the old frame.  Oh, I did remove both the front at back legs/wheels.  As a result I had to shim the bottom front of the fridge with a 1/2 inch board along the front bottom.  The fridge fit so tight that I only added three screws through the rear floor of the motor compartment.  The reason I let it protrude 1.75 inches was to allow for installation and remove of door hinges  The top and bottom area of old fridge opening will require minor trimming.

The next step is to install a 600 watt sure sine wave inverter in the cabinet below the fridge.  I have easy access to the house batteries located just below the fridge.  The setup will be laid out so I can plug the fridge plug directly into the inverter or the main power line circuit.  In my case I plan to run the fridge off the inverter most of the time.  The exception would be where when I am staying long term (like a week or more) I would use the main power line circuit.  Seems like a perfect setup for my situation.  Your situation may be different.

For detail specs of the fridge look for a post by Barry and Cindy.

By the way, I used the fridge for months before final installation.  I wish the old unit would have went bad years ago.  I really love the new fridge.

Hey Grover, You gave me an idea, thanks! Maybe you can use it too.
Feed your 120V fridge outlet off a DPDT relay (contactor) controlled by
a toggle switch. Have one side of the relay feed from shore/generator & the other side of the relay feed from inverter. Maybe run the control circuit in parallel with a cutout relay on the inverter feed. No need to run the inverter if the fridge is on shore power.
BTW, does the Haier fridge have an icemaker option?
