I use Alcoa's polishing and sealing system.  Don't be afraid of abrasives with unpainted aluminum.  You have to remove the oxide layer.

Where can one purchase the Alcoa Alumimun Care kit?  I've looked on their site and on e-bay without success.

I have used the alcoa product also, works good very pricy. Just stumbled on this Gords product, guess since there doesn't seem to be a lot of experience,  I may be the ginny pig. :))

Being a cheap sort..
I use aluminum foil (waded up) as a scrubber along with regular Coka Cola.  Finish up with aluminum polish.
Also works for cleaning a toilet, battery, etc., etc.. what you don't use mixes well with rum tooooo..
Recall.. Coke will dissolve a T-Bone, nail, etc., in short order. pc
