Optional Leveling?

There was a fellow at the last RV park that had some air leaks and after a few days the coach would lean quite a bit.  He would air, tilt it one way and over time it would lean the other.  Went through level a couple of days that way!

So, he decided to place boards on top of the tires and let the coach sit on those to be level.  So we leveled it first, saw the space of boards to fill, inserted the boards and dropped the air.  That got it to level for a month.

But that kinda nags at me a bit.  I guess ok....what you think?  Things should work as intended, but since....it is written on the forum....that you can dump the air on a level site and rest on the tires, I guess making it level with various size boards on the tires may be ok.  Hmmm?

Works for me! I have adjustable safety jacks that would serve a similar purpose. I hadn't thought of using them that way. Thanks for the tip.

Fortunately, our coach holds level pretty well. It stays in sight of the house, so I can see if it is listing and correct it. I leave the refrigerator running most of the time, so it does need to stay level. If the refrigerator is off, staying level is more of an aesthetic option than an obligation.

Of course, fixing the leaks is the best way to address the issue.

if the coach is resting on one or more tires could this cause a twisting moment that
could damage tile grout or even possibly crack tiles. I never let my coach sit on the
tires.  some people have added shims that prevent the coach from touching the tires.

good point, but if level on all tires touching, it no more twist than if gets out of level side to side or front to back?  I guess one could think that there is a bit more pressure on one tire than another with it resting on all tires?

I know of people that do dump the air if on level sites and rest on the tires, but I cannot say pressures the same on all.

I asked James T at FOT once and he told me they made to rest on the tires.....now we only talked, is it ok?  And he said yes.  Cannot be sure he mean to rest on all tires at once, but thought so.

Ideas?

I have eight jack stands like the ones JD has, and I've used them to hold the coach level. I have to be careful here at home, though, because the right front corner is nearly at full extension when the left rear is resting on the tires. One time I put the stands in and cranked them up snug. When the coach settled, that left front corner was so tight that I couldn't raise the coach enough to take the stand out. I had to use a hydraulic jack to take enough pressure off of the safety stand to lower it some, then let the coach drop onto the safety stand, then raise it up with the HWH system, and finally take out the safety stand.
