Unplanned delivery to FOT

This morning at FOT a wrecker rolled in and parked at the top of the angled lot along RT 21 across from the customer lounge.  Hard to tell what the problem could be from my initial vantage point but when viewed from the other side it became clear.  So far no further info.

Looks like they drove a LONG LONG ways on the totally flat tire.

Be interesting to see the age of the tire from the DOT number.

Also if they had a TPMS.

Assuming there is enough of the number left to read....

I would bet it is an original tire since it is a Phenix.

I'm wondering if the Tow Truck driver pulled the axles or removed the drive shaft?

I want 6 of whatever that was. It stayed on the rim and didn't destroy any coachwork that I can see.

The wheel fender skirt is cocked but the bay doors on either side are in alignment.  Looks like minimum wheel well damage.  The passenger front tire is a Michelin - can't tell on the drivers side...  No one around at the moment to chat with.

Ken - Glad we met up!  Gee, I can't believe you didn't recognize me from my icon.  I worked so hard on that >:(

I guess that is what should be expected from free software...  See ya tomorrow.

Walked over to the shop today and took a few more pictures. The tire is a Michelin. Couldn't tell which model. I've added a pic that someone might recognize and be able to identify. DOT date is 4307 which IIRC is the 43 week of 2007. The passenger tire was is Michelin XZA2. DOT date is 0611.

No TPMS on either front tire.

Feel sorry for whoever's coach this is. Looks like it could have been way worse.

Nice photos Ken. Good to be able to hear the story about the blowout. I'm betting he got the rig to the side of the road in 1/4 to 1/2 mile but would be interesting to see which lane, how fast, difficulty in getting off road, etc.

Cannot believe the large date code difference, I wonder if the tyres were replaced at same time but the owner did not know about keeping them equal in age-esp on front??
I had a nick in one of my fronts but changed both for safety 2 yrs ago.

@John I agree with you. If you change out one front tire change out both! I don't want this to ever happen to me. :'(

Do you know if they are changing out the Driver's seat?  I know I would want ours changed out after that.  I suspect they won't be able to get the stain out! :)

This appears to be a safe conclusion.  Whoever was driving should be pleased that they got to a safe stop.  This could happen to anyone but there is a reason the tire blew.  Did they know why??? ::)

Thanks for the post.  Sure got my attention. I was going to go another year (am @ 6 1/2) before new tires. NOT. I will be doing the front before leaving for our 6 months on the road.  I'll do the 6 rears next year.
