Foretravel chassis

I looked but can't seem to find if coaches in my budget(2000-2002)have ifs or solid I beam front axel.

A very, very small handful in those years were built with IFS.

ETA a quick search of the board found a post that says 18.  All in 2001.

I don't have personal experience, but from various things I've read it's best to stay away from the IFS Foretravel coaches in those early years. The reports indicate that many (perhaps most) customers were unhappy with them because "they didn't ride like a Foretravel." I think Foretravel worked out those issues in the more recent models, but I would definitely look for a non-IFS coach in those years.

I would not be afraid of the I F S  on a 2001 320, from what I have read about those units, if the front suspension was in good condition, properly aligned they rode better, handled better and turned tighter. Yes there are some maintenance points to pay attention to, but overall seem to be enjoyable.  It is amazing how a bad word, complaint can kill interest in good things.
Maybe one of the owners with the I F S 2001 models will make a comment.

Have 2001 u320 with ifs no issues so far, it was about a 13,000 dollar option in 2001

I too have a 2001 u320 with IFS and love it. I really like the tighter turning radius as it has gotten me out of a few tight spots, plus it makes it a lot easier backing into really tight camp sites. Have 102k on speedo and never a problem with it.
Also, of the few owners that have the 2001 IFS I have never heard of a complaint from them, but have from some who don't have it.
Either way it would not be a deal breaker, as they say, to buy a FT with or without the IFS.
