need help with slides

I put the slides out to load the Coach, went out fine. Tried to put them in and nothing. If I am reading the manual right I have a red led on but no yellow on the top ring on room module 1. problem with module. What can I do? Need more info please ask. Suppose to leave on a month trip Tues. Thanks Tom

Tom,

Can you fill in some details?

1)  Are you level as far as the controller knows?  (no amber lights, no "excess slope" light)

2)  What do the room control lights do when you turn the key?  Does the yellow start blinking at all?

3)  If the yellow light is blinking, do you hear the aux compressor come on (it's needed to assist with the vacuum/bladder deflation)

4)  How's the battery voltage?  Any chance they're low? 

5)  Any chance you're accidentally not in Neutral with the parking brake set?


If you haven't already tried this, you could try starting the coach, go through the process of leveling it, then see if the slides want to come in.

I did as you said. Started Coach leveled it and tried again. Yellow light flashes, I let it go for a minute or two then hit the retract switch a couple of times then the yellow went steady and I was able to get the slides in. Batteries are new and had air pressure of 120 lbs in Coach. I'm getting to be afraid to even put the slides out. Yellow led is on, on the control board now. I have no idea what the real problem is.

In frustration I went back to the Coach and put the slides out and brought them back in with out a problem. I now wonder if the excess slope light is not working.

When you use your slides, do you just turn on the key wait for a solid yellow then extend, or do you go through any gyrations first?

Tom,

We just turn the key, wait for solid yellow, then operate.  Hold button until red light to goes off, stop pressing button and turn key back off.

During the flashing stage, the slide bladder is deflating.  It doesn't go to solid yellow until adequate vacuum is detected (bladder fully deflated).  You shouldn't try to move the slide until that light is solid.

When you tried it before starting the coach, did the yellow light come on (and flash) at all when you turned the key?  Did you hear the aux compressor come on at all?  It should.  If it doesn't run at all, check the inline fuse and also the resettable breaker.

Tom, just as Michelle stated. Also make sure coach is at, or as near level as possible, preferably level.

Michelle, I really appreciate you taking the time to help Me.

Yes the yellow light always comes on and flashes. The problem I seem to have is the light won't stop flashing. I did read where low voltage will cause the pump not to come on. I even turn the charger on before I try the slides.

I don't hear the aux compressor come on but I hear the bladder deflating around the slide. The last dumb question is I know where the inline fuse is but where is the resettable breaker? Thank You so much for your help.

Don't know if this helps, but I have a 2007 Nimbus (still learning) and I was not allowing enough time initially for the yellow light to stop flashing. Takes a while, but once it goes solid I just extend (or retract) until the red light goes out. Mel (at MOT) said he always turns key off, then presses the rocker switch to select the other side of the coach, then turns key back on to start the process again (waiting for the flashing yellow light to go solid). He said he was not sure if it was necessary for the key to be switched off in between, but he preferred that procedure.

Only other thing I have noticed is that the slide station in the bedroom sometimes does not flash yellow when the key is initially turned, although I can hear the bladder deflating. That might be a short issue in the key, but not sure. Slide always works, as long as I am patient enough.

Tom - it sounds like the first place to look is your aux compressor (assuming it doesn't come on for any other activity, either).  If the fuse meters good, the resettable breaker is along the back wall of the bay (if it's like our coach) The selected media item is not currently available.  Little white buttons, they take a small, pointy object like a wooden skewer to reset.

Tom - I just thought of another thing, realizing this coach is fairly new to you.  I wonder if a previous owner might have installed a switch to manually turn off the aux compressor.  Follow the electrical connections/wires to the compressor and see if you see anything that looks like a switch.

I would look for a switch on the compressor.  It seems to work with the engine on and that might mean not enough pressure for a vacuum.

Tom: the parking brake must be engaged for the slides to work.  If an issue arises reset the parking brake.  You have a lot of help on this forum and should not be concerned when operating the slides.  Dan
