Any one near Tucson?

Good Morning,
I ran across this ad for an '83 FTX diesel in Tuscon. I have contacted the seller and requested pics. I got a half shot blurry video.. I was curious to know the actual condition of this unit and if its worth the trip from Knoxville TN. I think I may know this coach; I believe the original owner was Marion Snyder. He had the coach until 2008 if memory is correct. I'd like to verify.
Here is a link to the ad and the sellers contact info. The sellers name is Sean. Thanks!!

James, Unless trashed completely that would be a great deal, I assume that  it has a Cat 3208 in it.  I am not in AZ so can't help.

Call him back and tell him that you are interested but need high resolution photos to make a potential deal. No squeak, no grease. Can't expect anyone to travel hours after looking at those photos.

Be advised that this is not the 2 cycle Detroit but the 4 cycle.

Agreed, probably the least respected diesel of that era.  And as Pierce said, unrelated to the two stroke DD's.

I am looking at this for a "spare" coach. I completely enjoy the one I have but at 398K miles I may need a backup plan. As for the 8.2 I have no complaints. I have run them in trucks and my coach; probably logged over a million miles on these engines since the '80's. Thanks again!

Yes, Jeffy took me on a "road trip" to see this coach today ... in 108 degree heat.  It is NOT in "excellent" shape in any area that I could see.  I did not do more than look into the interior because the drop down step is missing and I had new knees installed 6 weeks ago.  I might have climbed in, but getting back out was another matter!  The interior is very dirty, it has been painted over the gel coat ( I think) and there is a lot of "crazing" going on.  There is a roof leak and the headliner as seen from the door is hanging down.  It was towed to this location and a cap (?) was lost on the end of the driveshaft.  The guy said that they put a battery in it just to try the engine and that it started.  He also referenced a water line in the front that was broken when it was towed (don't know what that could be).  It is not in the worst shape that I have ever seen ... but would definitely be a HUGE project.  It is really just very, very dirty in the interior.  All the windows were intact, there was minor body damage around wheel well trims, etc.  Could be worse.  I gave the fellow (Chuck?) a card for the Forum ... he may get on here and try getting some feedback about various systems.  He told us that he just had a feeling that there was a lot of quality underneath the obvious issues and that the coach "just didn't seem dead, yet."  He bought it at an auction.  It needs love, for sure.  I had the distinct feeling that it had been used for a long time by someone who just parked it and couldn't continue ... maybe the family didn't know what to do with it after someone passed on ... and it just sadly sat somewhere for a number of years.

James, Just because it came from an auction it would not necessarily have a SALVAGE Title.  A salvage title would indicate that it had been re titled by an insurance company after being damaged or stolen.

Owner stated it was a SALVAGE title. Believe the insurance company totaled this coach due to water damage.
