Speed sensor wire broken

I'm stopped on some really hot concrete and have figured out that the wire going to the speed sensor output on the Allison has come in two.

If I can figure a way to splice something in there will it work or is the voltage so sensitive it won't likely run if I manage to do that?

Coach won't come out of low gear and the code on the Allison says output speed sensor connection.

Looking at 3060 R print ,if you make good connection it should work ok. The speed sensor just provides a pulse to ECU.

A trip to the auto parts store a couple of towns over produced a temp sensor plug that I was able to use to make the repair.  I like being inside the coach a lot better than under it.  Glad I had my square tubing blocks along for the ride.

Glad to hear you were able to fix it yourself (and had the safety stands with you ^.^d )

Any thoughts on how the wire came to be broken?  At some point, too, post photos since there have been other folks reporting output speed sensor issues in the past.  Photos showing what and where to look for things is a huge help to everyone.

Because it wouldn't shift and the speedometer didn't work I figured it was a speed sensor issue. 

I read the fault code on the shift pad but couldn't find the sensor.  (The pavement was hot and I didn't look for very long.)  I called the FOT emergency line and he sent me a link to a PDF RV Tech Library - Allison Transmissions that had a diagram. 

The Output Speed Sensor plug was my trouble.  It is on the drivers side where the drive shaft comes out of the transmission. 

I went to an O'Reilly's a couple of towns over and found a PT191 pigtail/socket that was a perfect fit.  The wire colors were reversed but that was easy to spot. 

As an aside, I defended Coachnet on here a while back because they had done an excellent job for us once in Arkansas.  This time wasn't quite so great.  Before bothering FOT, I called them to see if someone at Coachnet could tell me where to look for that sensor wire.  After a very long hold I was transferred to their "technician" who kept trying to have the coach towed to Allison in Tulsa. I explained that it should be a simple roadside repair, that Allison wouldn't get to it till another day, and that I was in a safe place.  I'm convinced this "technician" lady wouldn't have known the difference between a motorhome and a pop up camper.  It didn't hold a candle to the service we got from them a couple of years ago.  I suppose it all depends on who answers the phone.
