Air Level While Parked

We arrived at a campground. I leveled. Then let out the slide (living room). When I went to hook up the electric service I heard the 12 volt auxiliary compressor running. I waited a few minutes. It was still running. I removed the fuse to stop the compressor from running. The next morning the coach re-levelled. Air was let out on one side and air was pumped in on the other side. It sounded as if a pump was running to let the air in as the side of the coach raised. Can the automatic level run the 12 volt auxiliary air compressor with the fuse removed or is there another air pump for the automatic air re-level system. Thanks. Larry

Hi Larrry,

I ran onto the same question on my coach. Â Seems puzzling when you have pulled the hanging fuse by the compressor. So yes, there is a second source feeding the DC compressor.

Jim, I just put a non fused switch in-line and turn it off when I need to ^.^d

I think if you push the "Emergency Stop" key on the HWH leveling pad with the ignition key ON, AND have the inline fuse on the 12 volt compressor pulled out, then the compressor will not run. Of course the coach will not re-level either.

No clue about the wiring of the 12v compressor but with the engine running I put out the slides, level then hit "emergency stop" and then shut down the engine.  Coach stays level for a week+.  No other air leaks that would activate the compressor so, it does not run again until I bring the slides in when departing.

Yes, the 12 volt aux compressor can run with the inline fuse pulled, if needed to level (and you've left it in level mode).  If the system fails to level itself, it will go into "excess slope" mode and the pump won't try again.

If the pump runs and runs and doesn't stop unless that fuse is pulled, there are a couple of things to look at:

1.  The blow-off N/O solenoid valve at the bottom of the condensate bowl.  If it's stuck open (it's supposed to close while the compressor is operating) you'll feel/hear air leaking out the bottom.

2.  The bowls themselves.  A crack in either the desiccant or the condensate bowl won't let pressure build.

3.  Slide bladder.

Thanks everyone for the help. The 12 volt DC aux compressor did not shut off after extending the slide. I recognized that I had a problem so  I disconnected the fuse. I had learned to do that by reading ForeForums. However, later on I was surprised to hear the pump come on to assist in re-leveling the coach.
