Retarder Pulsing

Hello all, while freaking out about my mountain grade climbing temperatures today of 200-205 and then later finding out that that is perfectly normal, I also noticed that my retarder when used at the lowest setting is producing a bit of pulsating resistance.  It seems to go away at higher levels of retard.  Anything I should look for or been there done that's?  We cross Nevada tomorrow and I'm trying to be very very proactive to not have our third breakdown this trip ;)

Please give a more detailed description of the pulsing. Does it occur at different speeds, or more at high (or low) speeds? Any additional details would be useful.

I don't really feel it at low speeds.  It's pretty high speeds, like 50+.  It only does it in the first position.  I can't feel it when I press the brakes.
