Algae-X diesel fuel cleaner

I saw one of these on a FT coach that I was looking at today. Has anyone here ever heard of these things? Supposedly cleans diesel of algae with a magnetic field. Sounds like snake oil to me. Could it possibly cause problems by failing or getting clogged? It's described here:

Have to agree with the snake oil, as the self cleaning never needs maint. feature sounds too good to be true.

I have one on my boat.  They do a little good, but not a bunch.  I do clean mine about once a year.  It does work well with metallic partiles i nthe fuel, but so does a good filter!
