Need new bladder installed

Hello i need a new slide bladder installed 2002, U-270, 36'. Motorhome Of Texas or Foretravel. I live in Magnolia Tx  looking for feedback  thank you  Patrick

I had mine done at HWH.  Took a day and a half.

My brother had his done at FOT.  They got him in and out in a day.

Either place was about $2500-$3000.

No info on MOT.

I am at Foretravel now and they are going to install a bedroom slide bladder on my coach tomorrow. I'm told it's a two person job and that it will take 8 or more hours to complete. I'll let you know more tomorrow.

I didn't mind replacing the hydraulic cylinders, but I think changing the bladder would have too many opportunities to make an expensive mistake.  I'd go to HWH.  Even if I lived in Texas.

Who makes the bladder? Called HWH the girl said they don't install the bladder. Maybe i miss understood her. She told me to go to Foretravel.

The panel to control the bladder and the slide mechanism on our 2002s is certainly an HWH item.  RnR in Spokane, WA also has the expertise to replace them, BTW, but I can't imagine HWH not servicing them.  It is certainly an HWH part and there are several listed in the HWH price list.  Whether the slideout needs to be removed or pushed in was a Foretravel call, but I am pretty sure our 2002s require being pushed in.  With the bladder being $1000+, that is why I wouldn't attempt it, but I really don't think it would be impossible to do with a helping hand.  HWH has the manuals online for replacing them...you just have to be sure to get the correct one for your coach.

MOT replaced the bladder on my 2000 - big job as on the 2000 the slide actually has to be removed out of the coach with a forklift. I think 2001 and newer, the slide comes into the coach to clear the bladder for replacement

We had our bladder replaced at FOT. It took 2 or 3 guys all day to do the job ... and they had every tool they needed AND the experience of having built coaches with slides and bladders. The inside slide portion of the coach has to be dismantled, top and bottom.  then, the slide comes INTO the coach to expose the bladder area.  Theo old bladder has to be removed, the old tape removed and the area prepped.  Then it was lunch time.  New bladder is installed, slide gets back into place, interior has to be put back together and the floor in the dinette area had to be re-done.  the finish edge of the tile had to be popped off to expose some of the slide mechanism on the inside.  Then, it all had to be tested and re-tested.  LISTEN to your wife!!!

I would think you could buy the bladder from HWH.  It was about $1200.  They also installed mine and I'm sure they would still do that job.  My brother was just there in August for a service visit--no bladder needed then.  There is a long wait to get in depending on the time of year.

HWH replaced my living room slide bladder two years ago: bladder $1300 and labor $1800. The slide room for my 2002 had to be completely removed. It could not be pushed in due to the way it was originally installed - which they corrected. However, they capped the labor time at 20 hours and ignored the additional 4-5 hours actually required. Very nice and knowledgeable people at HWH.

I did it myself on our 2002 but it is a big job and I would recommend having it done professionally if you are near a facility like FOT or MOT.

Called HWH talked to Ashley they will do the work, will have the new bladder made for me. Week of the 17th not bad Foretravel & Mot, Feb & Dec before they could get to it. Thank you for all your help Patrick

Foretravel installed mine today. It took 2 men all day to do it. There are a lot of mistakes that can be made during the installation and if you pinch the bladder you have to buy a new one. Also the bonding surface on both the coach and bladder have to be super clean, and primed. That way the tape will not loose its grip. It's worth the money to have it done professionally. The new bladders have been redesigned, are thicker, and seal better.

Does this say it is Feb before FT can get to it.  That is insane if it is that long.

Tried to book into Flanigan shop this week. Was told Feb 7 next opportunity. Will be spending some $$$ elsewhere., :-(

When i owned my collision shop i had 3 shifts working if the work load was out there. Hated to see money passing me by, February for foretravel what are they thinking?
