I recommend De-Solv-It Contractor's Solvent sold at Ace Hardware. I recently peeled up the clear stair tread on our wooden entry steps leaving a very sticky residue. I tried mineral spirits, acetone and a couple other products. Finally attacked it with the Ace stuff and it came right up. It's sold in a small spray bottle. Good luck.
