Slippery Entry Steps

Howdy!
 
When we had a little rainy weather recently, I noticed that the inner stairs entering the coach got very slippery. What do the rest of you do to solve that problem?

We use stair mats picked up at Camping world.

We put a woven fabric that was made for it on the steps.

We also use the stair mats from Camping World.

Quite a few of us have had the horizontal piece of plywood underneath the lower step rot from water seeping around/under the vinyl step cover. In my case the first riser also had rotted at the bottom. I replaced the lower step with Starboard.

Check the step. If it has a spongy feel, it is probable rotting. As a minimum, I recommend sealing the joints between the vinyl on the bottom of the lower step and the vertical pieces to prevent water from getting to the plywood underneath.

You can also buy black stair tread material at Lowe's or Home Depot - the stuff that has the texture of sandpaper, and has a yellow line printed along one edge.  I recall them being about $5 each, and are just about the right size for a step.  We have one on our outside step; maybe you'd like to have them on all steps.

Grand Villas have wood steps. The tread area on ours is covered with a transparent non-skid material. I just ordered some from FT as ours is getting a bit cloudy after nearly 20 years. They still use it for the step tread on the roof at the top of the ladder. Anyhow, I wonder if it could be used on the rubber material steps of the Unicoaches.
