I'm hoping to go to Herman Powers Tire Shop in Nac sometime tomorrow for a new set of shoes.  If I can get away with just my wife and I we will make it a point to stop in and find you.

I've been talking to Frank at Powers Tires for some time now.  At the risk of taking this off topic I'll post this for information.

I had wanted to replace my present Michelin 275/80/22.5 tires with new Michelins.  I just recently bought this coach but I'm hesitant to go anywhere on tires with a DOT date code of 3507.  However, Michelins are unavailable right now, and they can't say for certain when they will have my size available.  Based on information from this forum, MOT, and Herman Powers Tires I decided to go with the Toyo 295/75/22.5 load range H tires.  I ordered them last week, and Frank called today to tell me they arrived.  If I can get away tomorrow I'll get the tires installed and try to meet Steve and Ginny Hill.

Thanks,
Glen

Just had a set of Toyos put on our coach, and I love them. May be my imagination, but they seem to ride softer and handle better than the Goodyears I removed.

Lots of "my new tires are a lot better than the old ones-- ya, they old ones were OLD.

STOP. Not reasonable to compare 7+ year old rubber to new rubber.  Virtually irrespective of brand, new rubber WILL ride better than old rubber.

That does not mean that replacing your current tires with new ones by the same manufacturer would not give you the same or more improvement.

Again, this  "new brand XX" is wonderful needs to be qualified by the chemistry of what happens to rubber as it ages (and cross links).

OK. I'll restate. My new Toyos feel better than the Goodyears when they were new. Is that acceptable, Brett?

When I purchased my coach it had Toyo tires on the front.  I found that they are really good tires and you should be pleased with them. I had 02 Michelin tires on the rear and got new tires in 2011 ( Michelin XZE all way around ).  After about 10,000 miles very pleased.  DAN

As mentioned earlier I too am (hoping) getting Toyos on duals to match the ones on front as I have always liked this brand. Problem here is in Canada they do not have the selection you all have in USA and am waiting to hear back from head office how to get 4 without going over the border and with that I have to pay the 20% extra with exchange right now.
NOW the big Ahhh from you all. I just saw the other day when in the pit the dates on the inside of tires-0503, yep 12 yrs old and they look so good on side walls. I do realise I have to get them done now but as we are not moving till mid June I have time to find some. I am going to keep one just for spare.

For older coaches, I see no problem with load range G on the rears - for Toyos that's 11,200 lbs per side at 110# tire pressure on a 20K rated axle. H gets you to 13,200 but at 120#.
Definitely need H in the front - especially with Unihomes due to the generator hanging in front of the axle.

Andrew gave us a nice tour of the mothership, today. Saw some nice IH-45s, one of which will be our next coach, just as soon as we hit the Florida lotto. Back in Beaumont tonite. Headed to San Antonio tomorrow.
