Refrigerator: replaced NDR1062 with Atwood HE-801

Not a good idea.  Too late now, I've got it in.  The Atwood is prettier, relies on helium rather than hydrogen but:
It is smaller inside, and the shelves are not nearly as adjustable as the Dometic was.  I chose the Atwood because the Dometic stopped working with outside temps below 0 degrees.  Then discovered (I'm a dummy) that absorption refrigerators all rely on an amonia solution that freezes just like the water based solution should.  So, the fix would have been to cover the vent in cold weather to keep it above freezing, and the old one would probably have worked just fine.
The Dometic ran on LP, 110vac, and 12vdc.  The Atwood only LP and 110vac, although it requires 12vdc for the control systems and lights.  Prices are similar, and more than residential types in the 8 - 10 CF size range.  In my judgement, the Dometic NDR1062 is a much better refrigerator.

Are you sure it used ONLY 12vdc? Usually its 12vdc for the controls and LP for the energy to make the cold.

Brave of you to step up and admit a mistake in "public" - most people would just keep quiet.  You may have saved another Forum member from from doing the same thing, and for that I commend you.  Posts like yours make this Forum more valuable to all.  ^.^d

Krush:  Yup.  I'm sure.  Control panel showed AC, DC, GAS.  I set to DC while on the road. and AUTO when parked.
