Would call the mounting Temporary or Fragile at best, not what I would expect for $1,300.00.

My Follow Up Report

Re: Hangers or brackets.  What may not be visible in the small photos I posted is that there is another vertical hanger back on the tail pipe, near the end.  It is the original and the materials and method of fastening look about like that with the two new ones.  I took it for a second opinion to a mechanic who said it secure and properly done, correct materials (at least what he would use).

As suggested to try, I tried to push the assembly in any direction and it did not budge.  However, as also suggested I will try that again and again with time.  In addition....not knowing any better....I do not favor using bolts to connect one metal to another at a different angle. Probably just my inability to make that hold unless multiple bolts.  That said, others....and especially experienced professionals...I am sure know how to do that.  Still I will check at times.

On some connections, there are two bolts in line, that should secure it.

Re: Performance.  I have now only very limited driving but it was in traffic and highway and neighborhood.  It is a bit louder but fine.  I can hear it with the window open at low and moderate speeds.  I cannot tell it any different than the muffler at above say 50 mph.  It does seem to accelerate easier at low speeds.  I have not had it long enough to say it kept the BR cooler.

Re:  Price.  It was as represented to be.  Also, the Forum carried favorable reports of value at that shop though a few went beyond expected delivery time.  If I could have done it myself, that would be cheaper as pointed out but I am not able to do that.  I would say that the folks there try hard to please while working in difficult conditions.

I much appreciate each of your comment and help.  It is important and valued.  I still need to ask about the wrap....is it a good or not good thing to do.  One person on the Forum asked about that....I need to get answers to that for I do not recall a reply by a member.

M & J, like I said in my comment on your install I felt that some of the support was not visible but I could see the clamp bolts by pipe so knew there was more to it than what others thought.

Well John, you were very correct.  You were able to see some photo evidence that I did not.  I had to get back under yesterday to verify what you suspected.

Mike,

I think the exhaust wrap is a good idea.  It helps to keep exhaust heat away from the A/C components at the left rear and reduces heat in the engine compartment which will reduce bed temperature.

As noted, it's a good idea to check that the hangers are doing their job after the first few trips.  I found the ubolt slipped on one so I added a second hanger at the same spot to reduce the strain.  Has held for many miles.

For that kind of money, I would expect a fully welded system installed with solid metal hangars and rubber doughuts to provide the movement.

Those hangers dont hold up on cars, and the clamped install with single bolt points for the hangers makes me shake my head.

The wrap job, on the other hand is beautiful. its tough to get it so even. But another issue, I wouldnt wrap a mild steel pipe. The wrap holds moisture and combined with excess heat will rot or crack that pipe in no time. A 304 stainless system would be the best, followed by 409 stainless.

I dont know anything about who did the work, but I wouldnt settle for that. I found a local exhaust shop near me that does amazing work and is cheap. Hopefully my FT will fit in his shop when the time comes for a straightpipe.

M&J, I did the resonator swap about a year ago and wrapped the exhaust pipe from turbo till just before the resonator. Put a quilted heat schield on the upper half of Rez to deflect heat away from the condenser that is next to it. I don't know how much it helps in heat reduction, but it has to help some. I am happy with it.

Thanks Larry, will do without fail.

Brett, very good to hear you think wrap good.  You too Larry.  Bernd sure thought so.

I was a little concerned it might keep too much heat in the pipe that needed to radiate out before it had time to exit the exhaust.  I hear about EGTs, do not know mine, hope not cause a problem in that area!
