Re: Donaldson Resonator.....any advice? Reply #25 – April 30, 2015, 01:43:53 am The Magnaflow model # I have on my to do list is 12774.I would check that again before buying it...And no idea why our Aero would be getting noisy, other than getting filled with soot. When I pull it off, I'll see if I can see anything with my proctoscope (bore scope.) However, my experience looking into used mufflers is that it's dark as the inside of a cow, and a bright light makes it only a little less dark... Our engine doesn't seem like it's producing lots of soot. But then there's the high EGT readings, which might mean it's running rich. Quote Selected
Re: Donaldson Resonator.....any advice? Reply #26 – April 30, 2015, 11:27:26 am Dave,Am thinking you have an electronic engine. You might check your dampener TDC reading against the flexplate TDC in case the two piece dampener outside part (if your dampener is two piece) has migrated causing retarding injector timing and elevated EGTs.Not an expert whether that would cause increased soot though. Re: Donaldson Resonator.....any advice? Reply #27 – April 30, 2015, 05:16:19 pm We ran from NAC to Natchez, MS today, all on US84 ( once we got on it). About 240 miles of driving with the new resonator. I found I had to watch my speed as it wanted to keep going while before, sometimes I wondered if it would go. First part of the day we drove with windows open and Karen did ask me what that noise was- not loud, just a different noise- it was the resonator. By lunch time it was getting into 80's so closed up, fired up generator and turn on the house airs- no interior noise at all. Just a 1 day journey, but so far I am pleased with the Donaldson resonator- the extra power, spooling up the turbo faster, and seems to be running cooler too. I think almost any good quality resonator will work if it is installed properly. Just watch out for those "Smokey the Bears"Cya down the road. Quote Selected

Re: Donaldson Resonator.....any advice? Reply #29 – April 30, 2015, 10:26:25 pm Thanks Brett:I don't know the part number as the installation was done at Bernd's. It is a 5" Donaldson resonator and yes I do have an ISC350 in my 2001 U 270. I met a number of people with different coaches, different engines at Quartzite this year- a lot had resonators. Many had the mechanical Cummins 8.3 liter engine- perhaps they can chime in with their results and opinions.hope this helpsTed Quote Selected
Re: Donaldson Resonator.....any advice? Reply #30 – May 01, 2015, 12:19:29 am Ted, we have C8.3 with Aero 5050 and found more pep after installation. Sound level is just fine, not much noticeable. Our tailpipe didn't attract any attention when we came and went during Quartzsite earlier this year. We did use 4" to 5" adapters at both ends. Quote Selected
