Do I have a drier?

While replacing a 15 Amp turn signal fuse (I caused it to blow--another story sometime) I looked at the labelling on the underside of our tip up dash and noticed that there is a fuse location labeled "drier" and there is a fuse in the slot. I don't have air brakes, air suspension, and nothing in my manuals mentioned a drier. Maybe a standard for a bunch of Foretravels of that 1989 era? Even tho our coach doesn't have a drier the fuse panel is a common item?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm a newbie to Foretravels. I thought all of them had air brakes except maybe the 1960's and early 70's models. I guess I will have to check any I look at carefully. I don't want any coach without air brakes.

Nitehawk:  I think the fuse blocks were used on many models, and often have fuse positions that are not used in some cases.  I have a couple fuse slots that I know are not being used, but they still have fuses in them.  I look at them as "spare fuse holders".  If you have a wiring schematic for your coach, you can look up the fuse panel diagram and trace the wiring from that fuse position - see where it goes.

Perhaps your coach was originally fitted with a "Clothes Dryer" as optional equipment?  :))

You can check the specs for any coach of interest, in most cases the type of brakes/suspension will be noted.

Thanks, but I have hydraulic brakes with an electric assist--the old Oshkosh Truck design--mainly a dump truck suspension prettied up.
No room for a drier anywhere.
We mainly bought this GV to fit our camper need and it does that very well and SO MUCH MORE!!

If you do not have an engine-driven air compressor, there is no reason for an air dryer.

BTW, you might check, but I suspect your brakes on the Oshkosh ORED are "hydraulic over hydraulic" with electric assist only in the event of the engine dying (loss of hydraulic pressure). Often the hydraulic pump on the engine drives both power steering and "power" assist for the service brakes.
