Open the vents in engine compartment

I have looked and looked at the vents on each side of the engine compartment.  Have never opened.  I would like to wash out the radiator but I can't figure out how to get the vent open.  See the hinge so comes up from the bottom but how is it attached? or latched.  Bolt, hook can't seem to find.  I know someone knows.  DAN

On ours there is a release lever. It pulls a couple cables to release the latches. It doesn't work very well, I think from accumulation of dirt and stuff, so I lay down there, reach up, and pull the cables by hand. I really should clean, lube, and get them working.

Dan, mine has a locking lever up under the lower edge. In order to figure out how to release it you will have to lie on your back and look up under there

Very hard to opperate unless one keeps them lubricated and free of road grime.
