Wiper question

On the way to Riverton, WY the right (passenger side) wiper motor died, so I ordered a new one from Foretravel. I got it installed but it didn't seem to be working properly. Since we were pressed for time I just unplugged it until I could deal with it. That time has now arrived.

The problem is that the two wipers are supposed to operate opposite each other. When parked, the tips of the blades point at each other, and when in operation they start out by going away from each other. That means that the driver's side wiper should first go counter-clockwise (as viewed from inside) then clockwise, while the passenger side should go clockwise, then counterclockwise. Right now both operate like the driver's side.

When I talked to Mike in parts I read him the number on the old motor and told him it was the passenger side. The new motor looks exactly like the old one, so I thought I had the right one. Is there something I need to change to get the new motor to operate properly? I suppose I could always put that blade assembly on so that it is vertical when off (at the far right side of travel) but I suspect that Jo Ann would not appreciate the looks of that.

Thoughts?

David,
Sounds like your stop cam is mounted 180 degrees out of time. In old times you could just turn it over to suit which side the motor was mounted.

Mike, I googled that and it looks like I have to disassemble the motor. I'll see what I can figure out from the old unit. Sure hate to tear into a brand-new part.

David,
Last one we worked on we had to disassemble as there isn't a magical window to open but that was long ago.  I figure there is most likely a youtube video out there somewhere that will give you step by step directions.
