Bay Doors

Took a corner i little tight and destroyed the bay door, (The one in front of the rear wheel on driver's side) of our 2002 U-320. Anyone know where to get a replacement?

I feel your pain. I dinged one of my doors on my trip home from buying my coach from MOT. Hard lesson learned for sure. Repair may be possible. Check with James at XTreme in Nacogdoches. If you send him a picture of the damage he can probably give you a rough estimate.

My ding is along the bottom of the door, is about 6 inches long, 4 inches tall and was just about all the way through. My estimate was 2 days and one coach buck.

Foretravel and Extreme- not cheap though.
Jeff if your damage is not right thru' why not go to a local marine or fibreglass shop for them to fix, maybe cheaper and faster??

If you need a complete new door, I'm sure the factory has the molds to build you a new one.

I had a ft diameter concrete post jump into my door like yours in our U295. By the time Xtreme was done we had a full body paint job and all new coach windows.

I would see who could make you the door and paint it and ship it too you but if you are in Nac, I would go to Xtreme. Rance is an artist with FG.

Mike,

I have seen worse damage than that brought back to life. We don't know where you are located but if Xtreme in Nac isn't close a good boat shop especially along the coast should be able to do a repair.

check here for one. I'm sure he has one, but to say they are overpriced is being kind from my calls to them Visone RV P, RV Salvage Parts, Motorhome Repairable Wrecks, Used RV Parts...

Thanks John,

I am trying to have it fixed locally. I do have a great FG guy in town but he can't get my coach to his shop. I wisely mentioned his plan to Hans and his advice prevented what could have been a disaster. The FB guy was going to remove the door by drilling out the piano hinge rivets on the back of the door. Hans pointed out that the tolerances are very tight with the adjoining doors.

I postponed the work until I can figure out a better way. I'm hoping he can do it on site at my storage facility without removing the door. Removing the molding that covers the piano hinges for door removal messes with my full body paint job.

I'd like to work it out with my guy. He has a great reputation and his estimate was 'only' $600.00.

Visone most be the only game in town that they charge so much. Would rather give my money to James or FT. And let him eat his parts

I spoke with those guys and they wanted $1K for used door..then called FOT and a new one was $980.00...I'm gonna fix that door with a panel from "coosacomposites" and glass it back in.

I had the tiniest little gouge in my door and another area that needed sanded and respray only and both a well recommended Florida coach painter and Parliament wanted over $5K. They acted like they were doing me a favor with that pricing! Needless to say, it's still not repaired

Years ago we had collision repair done by Creative Coach in Lakeland , FL on our SOB. Our little Winnie looked lost in between all the Prevosts that were there, but they treated us well, did a good job. The price was good since it was the other guys insurance paying ( he hit me) and I asked about a full body paint job then- was quoted $22,000. That was 9 or more years ago on a Winnie Adventurer. Guess things in Florida are good , but much more expensive........

That looks like a pretty good wack. I would try a corvette body shop. They work with fiberglass all the time.

Hans, you're on the right track with the composite board. That's not that tough a fix, basically flat surfaces. Overall seems like it might be easiest to just fix in place rather than removing door.

My wife found a hidden tree stump coming out of a nasty twisty CG drive. Split the waterheater bay door 5 ways, nasty. After finding out the cost of a new one, I removed the door (not hard to do) and took it to a well-regarded fiberglass shop who made it as good as new for about $400.
