New Rear Camera & monitor 1997 U295
I have been trying to figure out what I was going to do since the factory rear camera was not working any more. I looked at all of the options. I was planing on installing a double din radio touch screen in place of the monitor but after reading the threads about cutting on the dash I was trying to find a way around that.
Here is what I did. I got a Jensen VX7012 radio. The radio fits in the place of the regular radio a large screen comes out and covers over the old monitor. The radio has option for two different video inputs and also has navigation. For the camera I removed the old camera that was in the air intake grill. After cutting off the back of the housing I drilled a hole in the glass and installed a small camera that is flush mounted. Once I thought I had the correct angle and twist on the camera I took silicone and put that around the back of the camera to keep it from moving. As you can see in the picture I somehow screwed up before I silicone the camera in since the camera is twisted to the drivers side. I figured I would leave until after our trip to see if I need to make any other adjustments. On the camera I got a BNC to RCA adapter to connect the camera cable that was going in the old monitor to connect to the radio. At the camera side I cut off the splice from the old camera and installed a screw on RCA connector to the end of the coax with an adapter to plug in the new camera. Got the power from the old camera power wire.
