HWH system is fine=air regulators leaking

I am in the lot at HWH after they checked my system to see why it sometimes leans left, or right then re-levels itself.  A real good check underneath found the HWH system working as it should, but I have 7 air leaks- mostly regulators ( I think).  I am not having any problems driving but it does lose air overnight, so they should be fixed.

1.  I am in Iowa now, but headed west and will be at the Balloon Fest in Alburquerque in October.  Does anyone know of a reputable place to get these regulators replaced or maybe a forum member who might want to be able to help me do this?

2.  Can this wait until after the Balloon Fest and I can get it done then, maybe in Alburquerque?

3... I seem to remember someone posting about having them replaced at a truck repair place- any ideas about reputable places?

Since I have zero experience in working on this system, I learned a long time ago to either get it done at a good shop or have someone who has already done this supervise.  One time I tried working on a system in a car- had to get it towed out and it cost me 3x what it would have if I had taken it in  without screwing it up myself.

Your knowledge and experience are greatly appreciated, as always.

I think Ron Hawkins might be able to help you. He is a FT owner and owns ICW or did.

It would be on your way to NM.  If you are going to the GV you can call beverly and have Jack Bradshaw bring them out with him and replace them at the GV too.

Thanks John- we will not be at GV as it is the same time as the Balloon Fest- haven't figured out how to be at 2 places the same time ................ :)

Well if you left on the friday of the BF you could make the GV. I had reservations for this year in the presidents compound and was planning on both but did not have the time.  Enjoy the BF, I loved it and want to go back next year again.

Hi Ted,
The most difficult part of changing the regulators is just getting the coach safely up high enough to access them. I purchased a new regulator for the step cover at Napa, but others have gotten them much cheaper at Lowes or HD. Cleaning the old sealant off of the fittings can be a bit tedious, but not too bad. Using the proper sealant is a must, as is being careful to leave the first couple of threads free of it so as not to get it into the air lines. The only other difficult is judging how tight to go with screwing the new ones in. In other words, when you nearly have the gauge where you want it for reading the pressure so you can set the regulator, is it tight enough or is there enough slack to go around one more full turn without breaking it. Once you start screwing it in, you don't want to back it off, you need to bring it to a stop at the tightest point where you can orient the gauge correctly and still achieve a good seal. Anyway, good to know the HWH system is functioning correctly it sounds like the issue can be lived with until you either find the right place to do it or the right person to help you. A far as the right sealant, I settled upon Loctite 567 after researching the issue when I replaced the air springs on our coach. Not cheap, but a little goes a long way and good to have in the spares box... in case of a air dryer bypass or whatever.

Thanks for your advice and encouragement- always appreciated.  It seems like these regulators are common for air compressors so I can get them at HD or Lowes, etc.....  Are there different part numbers on them and how do I know about setting the psi? 

The leak in the back goes to the brake system so that one I might want another opinion on or an experienced person there to help me.

I agree it sounds like I can live with it for a while as the main compressor when the engine is on more than makes enough air pressure to inflate my bags and keep the tanks full.

Thanks for reminding me about safety stands.  I have them in my bays and would certainly use them If/when I am under the coach changing out air pressure regulators.

Another stupid question:

Where is my auxiliary compressor on y 2001 U270??  It sounds like it is in the compartment behind my house batteries on the drivers side of the coach, but we cannot see it.  Looked under, both sides, could hear it but not see it.  The mystery continues..................

Ted, also match the new regulators with the same gauges as the old ones. Most likely 0-100 or 120
So you can set the pressures the same.

Mine was in the drivers side up high in the storage bay against a bulkhead wall.

You both are right.  Mine has a metal cover that looks like it is part of the bay wall- it is also behind a storage drawer that would have to be removed to get at the cover.  I used a mirror and flashlight and saw under the bottom opening of the cover and sure enough...........
