Rubber roof tutorial

Is there a link to a rubber roof tutorial in regards to maintenance and upkeep maybe with pictures or video in regards to what is acceptable to maintain the seal around roof mounted accessories and seams and to keep the rubber from drying or sun damage.  I have never had a rubber roof before.

Are you sure you have a rubber roof?  That's not typical on a FT.

Do you have a rubber roof ?? Our 95 u280 is a fiberglass roof.

When I re-sealed the skylight in the shower I used a sealant tape and from camping world. Looked a lot like the sticky gooey stuff that the factory put on originally. Lasted 20 years looks like unless someone else had re-sealed it before.
Roof has a curv, but skylight doesn't.  Base of skylight doesn't sit flat on the roof. So I put an extra strip on each end to compensate for the curv.

After returning to the top of the ladder I believe that there is some kind of thin coating on the roof. It must have been done by the original owner the PO had it washed at truck wash centers.

Toby.

Try a search for" ever wonder why the roof on our Foretravels is so strong".

I would paste the link for you but I'm a rookie and haven't figured that out. Lots of great info about sealants on that discussion.
I bookmarked it for future ref.
  Hope that helps.

Xtreme and FT use different forms of paint but not thick coatings.  Some have used Rhino or Linex to coat their roofs themselves.  Maybe that's what you're looking at.  I hope the PO didn't apply it to hide serious problems.  A roof inspection is a critical part of a pre-purchase inspection.

Its thinner than line-ex or equivalent.  It reminds me of a spray on coating that body shops use they spray  it onto a car before final masking to stop overspray from adhering to existing paint however that stuff is water soluble.  The PO is a friend of the family and I don't see any sealing issues from above or below. I am thinking it is some kind of residue. will see what more serious cleaning and scrubbing yield it did change colours before and after the first wash.
