Gen service and warning

I had the generator in for a valve adjustment as the manual says 1.000 hours and the gauge says close to that and while it was there the cummins tech noticed the air intake piping had been melted by the exhaust system.

Too close according to the shop manager.

Second issue is that I had ordered new glow plugs and a fuel pump and both the main breakers and the push in breaker for the gens cooling fan.  Both seemed weak in their mechanical aspects to me and the main had opened up several times at 38amp load on a leg on my link 2000

 I replaced the breakers

They installed new pvc pieces that clear better.

Hope this helps anyone avoid any issues.

Yes the gen runs smoother and quieter after adjusting the izuzu's valves.

My intake piping on the generator melted as well. I fabricated a new one out of pvc and a heat gun for adjustment

I didn't have my intake tubing melt but did end up with the joints on the intake coming apart.  This is probably something that everyone (maybe just Isuzu owners) should keep an eye on.

Looks like a lot of work done for the price. Good value.

$175 additional on another page for the valve adjustment.

Next step is to test a higher temp hydraulic fan control.  210 vs 190.  Mine seems to come on at too low of a temp.

Max speed is at 190 but I think at 180 it's almost fully on.

-36hp when fully on and according to the shop manager it heats the systems oil quite a bit.

Parts coming.  All 94-98's have a dynamatic  190 degree fan control installed.

PVC for intake piping?  Not even CPVC?  I don't really think that's correct in this application at all.  Seems to work well enough though.
