travel south of Nashville via I65 and 231 to I10

Have had to travel  from WI to FL and back recently. There are future plans to go to FL again. Looking for comments on using I65 out of Nashville and then 231 out of Montgomery to I10

Where are you going in Florida?
231 is a good road a few towns but good roads. 55mph nice scenery I truck down that way every now and then.

Just came back from near Mobile from and to Chicago on I65 and I10.  Avoid Nashville in the rush hour.  Took us 1 hour just to get through.  I65 in N. Indiana is one lane at night with road works, long delays.  There are lots of other roadworks with 55mph speed limits.  Overall though not a bad ride.

Here are a couple of sites with info:

...then 231 out of Montgomery to I10...
We've done that looking for a route that bypasses Atlanta.  Pleasant ride on 231 but there are a good number of towns along the way.  It really did not seem quicker then 75 thru Atlanta but then we always time going thru Atlanta on the weekend.  Certainly less traffic.  We'd do 231 again.

We will be headin that way from Huntsville next week. Not a bad way to go just try to avoid rush hour in Birmingham and Montgomery.

Thanks to All here. We hit Atlanta on a mid Sunday Oct 11 and they were doing construction on west bypass. Stop n go for an hour or more. Returning on a weekday we took the main I75 through down town and hit identical backups. I had talked with a guy who winters in Titusville,FL. He has taken the I65 to I 10 via 231 and commented how much more relaxing that route is though it adds a 100 or so miles. Our trip took us to Hollywood FL . We stayed at the Seminole RV park and used that as a base as we followed our Daughter in her singing performances with Seraphic Fire. (seraphicfire.org) If anyone is in Miami area for Dec and you like good classical music this group performs multiple shows at various large churches. Christmas sells out early.
