Another D2 experience
On our last trip I had trouble with the coach building air pressure. Had it on high idle and it still did not build full air pressure. I turned off the engine and went out to listen for leaks- nothing. Tried again and she finally built up pressure, everything seemed to work, so we drove on to Yuma, AZ. Concerned about this I started reading about it in a great knowledge filled area- this forum.
My conclusion is that the D2 could be going bad and since I like to start with simple solutions, I went out today and got one from NAPA $19 like has been said on the forum before.
A friend of mine who has an old MCI ( got your attention Dave M.??) said he would come over and help me change it out as he has experience in doing it. I got things ready for him to come over and decided to try to break lose the nuts on the D2. Wow, they were not tight, I didn't have to use any force to loosen them. I stopped at this point and when Dan came over we talked about it. He thought the same thing I did- if the D2 was not tight, that could be where the air leak is. We tightened it up, I fired it up and air built up right away. Problem solved.
Lesson learned- if having issues with air pressure, check for tightness of D2 before replacing.
I am keeping the D2 I bought for a spare just in case.
