Technical? boot & cloth muff

This hardly qualifies as technical but I would like to know if there is a "trick" to installing the ride height valve dust caps? I have new ones from FOT part #RN10JE, and IF they will fit it will take stretching them ALOT to get them over the valve. I was concerned that they would tear or rip so I stopped, are they supposed to be that tight?

Try turning inside out, putting in place and then turning the edges back over. Still a bear. Maybe someone has a better method.

I also found the new felt pads were slightly bigger.  I cut one down and then used the old ones.

Does the felt pad go in the boot or just up in the valve and covered by the boot?

The pads were missing on mine and the boots were really cracked and loose.

The pads go inside the valve, then the boot. I used bicycle tire inertube with zip ties for boots and S/S scrub pads for the filters

Thanks Bob.... that's what I tried, it worked OK, still a pain to get to the two rear ones, front wasn't too bad. I was a little concerned that turning them inside out would tear the boot. Got the pads in and the boots on today.

I like the bike tube idea tho' ... the $14 price from FOT was a little much IMO.

Not surprised ....... I should have taken an old one in for them to match up. They didn't know what a ride height valve was.
I also should have asked FOT about the price BEFORE the order. I was expecting $4 or $5 each.................

I used crutch tips. I drilled several holes in each tip. I put cotton inside and then put them on the valves. It seems they have done the job for a couple of years.
