U280, driver side gasket-window seperation

I notice the  coach leaning to one side so(maybe more than a lean :help: ) I guess I have a leak in the passenger side airbag.  Later that day I hear a pop and look to see what was going on  couldn't see anything , now it's raining So I hear drip drip drip...

Great, I can see light.. the frame welds have broken at the front joint, the angled one. It's ofset.. welds are not separated about a half inch.. silicone for now, is this a serious issue
. My 88 had some of this.

Dash is firm,  could the lean cause this?

How difficult a fix?  Any idea on costs? Procedures?

Yes the lean can do that. It happened to mine last spring and then again after I had the gaskets replaced. I got lucky and found China Grove Coach and Glass near me and they were able to get glass back in position. Charged me a hundred bucks. He explained about the twisting and said he has seen issues with all brands not just FT He said American Coaches will just shatter their windshields, kind of made me feel better.

I'm in the Charlotte, NC area. China Grove Coach and Glass is just North of Charlotte right off I 85 Clyde and his son Jeff run/own it.Clyde has been in the business since 1958. I found out about them after I had my windshield gaskets replaced at Tenn,Rv. My coach did the same as yours air bag lean and the top left corner came out of the new rubber gasket. I wasnt looking forward to going back to Tn to have it fixed, its just too much time involved going back and forth. I found out about China Grove Coach and Glsss and Clyde quoted me 280.00 to pull windshield and reset. When I went to pick it up he said he was able to work it back in without pulling it out. $100.00 Cash, he likes cash, lol 704-857-8502

Kicking this up...

Is it just these 2 GV models ? Our specific builds # that have had this issue?

Just thought the "knowledge" base would of had more insite into cause... just wondering.

John,

The passenger side window on my 93 U300 had leaked in the past and had been siliconed by the PO.  It looks like some separation in the weld on the window frame could have occurred due to flexing of the body.  I haven't noticed any shifting of the glass or leaks around the windshield or on the driver's side window. It doesn't leak now even though its only a temporary fix and we get heavy downpours here frequently.

Another future project when time and money permits, but for right now a silicone seal does the job.
