Gas cook top stove

I have turned the heat on in my coach and the propane alarm went off. I have checked all connections and manifolds with soapy water that I can find. Has anyone ever had a problem with the stove valves not completely shutting off. All other connections seem fine.

Have read that the alarms do "age out", and need to be replaced some day.  If your alarm is the old style that also shuts off the electric solenoid at the tank, that can be by passed, or disabled, after you know you have no leak.

My 93 had the solenoid, my 98 does not, as the laws and rules changed requiring them to be installed.

7 to 10 year lifespan, depending on detector.  The date of manufacture should be on the back of the unit.

If a coach is a 2009 or older and there is no record of the detectors being replaced since 2009, now is the time.

I am confused. You seem to have a 1995 U320 which should have an Aquahot rather than a conventional propane furnace. Are you sure it is the propane alarm. The Aquahot does not use propane.  If the alarn is the CO2 alarm you may have a very hard to find crack in your heat exchanger. Does the alarm come on when using the electric part of the Aquahot? Have the furnace checked out by a CERTIFIED technician.

Joe's coach is one of the few with a Primus system rather than an AquaHot or propane furnace Primus Heat

Kent I have one of the few coaches with Primus heat. It has no furnace. The alarm seems to still work properly even with its age. The solenoid will still work and shut the gas off. I believe the leak is very small which why think it may be the stove top valves, I may install a shut off feeding the stove and see what happens.

We had the same issue about three years ago. Turned out the stove wasn't turned off completely--just looked that way!
Don't just look at the burner controls--actually turn them off--just to make sure. Even the pilot light.
In our case I think it was my slightly large, slightly "fluffy", slightly protruding, slightly voluntary inertia motivated derriere leaning against the controls. >:D  >:D

Can you post a photo?  Is it a Gaggenau?

Michelle, you are right on the money and your picture is perfect. Just left the coach and no alarm on. Turned on the heat and will monitor later to night. I believe still it was one of the knobs. Thank you all for your quick responses. While I love my old coach I would be lost without this forum.

Sorry Joe, but knobs is knobs, no matter the brand or position.

Nitehawk I couldn't agree more. What surprises me is that they are so sensitive to shutting off.

Latest update, is all is well. Just checked coach, heat is on, no alarm, coach is warm. As SGT. PRESTON would say, well King looks like this case is closed.
