6V92 Rear radiator fan replacement

I thought this may be interesting to folks with the 6V92 with rear radiator. I just ordered this from Foretravel, part number Flex-a-lite 8681, 28" diameter, cost $277.68 plus shipping. Will be replacing the 25 year old OEM fiberglass fan.

Thanks for posting Peter. Always like pictures... :) My 92' with the 50hp bump required a 30" 8 blade fan which is barely adequate.

Thanks for the picture. It looks like you had already spent some time trying to get years of accumulated greasy grunge off of your fan. What do you and others find best for cleaning up some of those parts that do tend to collect crud. I don't know whether I need a degreaser, a wire wheel, or some other secret ingredient.
 
What works the best for most of you?

What works the best for most of you?
I've used a low pressure pressure washer (1000psi as opposed to 3000psi), carburetor cleaner, disc brake cleaner, and lately on smaller jobs I've been using Grime Boss wipes.  Shop 30Ct Heavy Duty Cleaning Wipes at Lowes.com The Grime Boss wipes are great for smaller projects. They are already soaked with degreaser and can be used to clean your hands when done! :) They are like baby wipes for mechanics but have a nubby side and a smooth side. I've been buying mine at Walmart or Lowes. Walmart has them in the oil section of the auto supplies and found them at Lowes in the paint section.

I am still looking for the next best thing. I still have a ton of dirt and grime on my engine from my fan motor misting the entire engine compartment with oil for several weeks before I figured out what was causing it. It looked like an engine leak since the fan blew the hydraulic oil on to the engine then it dripped to the ground from the oil pan whenever I parked. :(

Just for fun I dug up the receipt for the fan blade replacement that Foretravel service did on my coach in Dec 2001: 
same 8681 part number,
$184.69 for the fan,
$170.10 to install.

May want to see if they actually have one. I spent several hours trying to beat the Foretravel price. Internet searching, NAPA, O'Reillys. The NAPA guy actually called Flex-a-lite, they said it has been discontinued. Foretravel told me they had 2 left, now 1 left.
Note the fan PN can be found as 8681 or FLO8681.
