ScanGauge D update

1998 U-320 with Cummins M11 Celect Plus 450 HP

I while ago I was asking some questions about using ScanGauge D and VMSpc to get more accurate engine temperature information while traveling.

We went with ScanGauge D at this point in time, and I wanted to report what I've found because there is essentially no information on the forums about it.

First off, you can daisy chain multiple ScanGauge units together so that you can view additional gauges and are not limited to four.

Out of the box with the Cummins M11 Celect Plus you have the following gauges available to replace the existing analog dash gauges (the ScanGauge D unit displays more information than this):
- Transmission temp
- Engine Coolant temp
- Oil pressure
- MPH
- RPM
- Volts

One gauge I really wanted is a gauge showing the Retarder Temp.

With the engine running I did a PID capture from the ECU using the ScanGauge, and emailed the results to the folks at Linear-Logic to see if any additional gauges could be created.  In our case four additional gauges could be created.  They sent me the codes to program additional gauges.

The additional gauges are:
- Hydraulic Retarder Oil Temp (retarder temperature)
- Engine Oil Temp
- Cruise Control Set Speed (in MPH)
- Transmission Shaft Output Speed (in RPM)
- Barometic Pressure (PSI)

Right now I have the ScanGauge D unit setup to show the following gauges:
- Engine Coolant
- Transmission Temp
- Retarder Temp
- Engine Load

Good information, but for another $150 plus a cheap tablet or an old notebook you can look a every gauge you mentioned at the same time in a color, easy to read display, and be able to set alarms and visual warnings for any of them? I have used scangauges in many cars, but for a coach, much. much easier to use VMSpc.
