Built-in drawer for 2 burner induction cooker

I've been thinking for 6 months or so about replacing our 3 burner propane cooktop with a two burner induction cooktop in a drawer.
We've been using a portable one burner induction cooker for most of our cooking for almost 6 years, and almost never used the propane unit.  We used the space over the old cooktop to dry dishes, and it was never convenient to remove all the dishes and drainer, lift up the cover, and cook... So we've been using the portable unit on the counter beside the dishes when we needed it.

Project just completed at a friend's shop in Lake Havasu AZ!
I used a True Induction S2F2 countertop unit, which shares a single 120V 15A outlet between two burners, and load balances between the burners, so you get 1800W if using only one, and less for each if using two burners.

So (for instance) I can stir fry at high power on the front burner, and cook the rice on low on the rear burner.

The True Induction unit is apparently being installed in many new all electric RVs.  They have both a countertop unit which is supposed to sit on your counter (which I used), and a built-in unit, which is the same unit with a slightly different top, and significantly more expensive.  The drawer construction had to be more complicated to have the cooktop captured at the right height, but it was fun to design.  I reused pieces of Corian from the old cooktop cover to make side pieces (see photos), and built a new removable top out of butcherblock, since I had no ready access to matching Corian.

The cooktop is 23 3/4" deep, and since the inside space of our cabinets is 22 1/2", I had to extend the front panel, hence the side pieces on the oak front.

Although the drawer will extend all the way out to clear both burners for cooking, our coach has no slides, and the full extension position would have blocked the corridor, so I made part of the top removable to clear the rear burner when we use it.  Cooktop is plugged into an inside outlet I added below the lowest drawer.

Great project! Been thinking the same thing and Amazon has a slightly smaller version that might fit cross-wise. Amazon.com: True Induction MD-2B Mini Duo Portable Counter Inset Double....

Dave,
Great job! I think it's great when a project looks like it could have come from the factory that way. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing with great pix.

Thanks!  It was great fun to do!  Maybe Dave Flannigan's shop will add it to their list of retrofits...
