What Kind Of Satellite Dish?

Our Trackstar is now obsolete and we need a new dish.

I personally don't like the looks of that big blister on the roof, so what about one of those portable antennas?  A portable would be good for our spot in South Florida in the winter months, as a pine tree obscures the southern sky there for our roof mount.

A Dish Playmaker is $299 at CW now.  I understand about the more expensive dishes allowing you to view other satellites, but not
being someone that watches much TV to begin with, do I really need a better dish?

I thought about getting a portable and either have Xtreme paint it to match our FT, or having it wrapped in camo.

We bought a Dish carryout for $199 and it's been fine for us.

I use a dish on a stand works great low cost if you change providers no problem. I carry 200' of coax so no problem getting a signal.

Make a portable secure from theft.  We like Winegard products.  Depends if you are Dish or Directv customers and if you want HD or SD on what will do the job for you.

I have a Wineguard Carryout that I bought originally for my previous coach.  Works pretty well and is light weight. 

Since I bought the Foretravel with a bigger fold-down dish already installed I keep the Carryout in basement storage for those occasions when I'm completely under trees.

I'm not sure about all brands, but a caution with painting the Winegaurds.  They do not recommend painting or wrapping with anything as it may inhibit signal transfer.  If you take the cover off these units and see how small the actual dish is you'll understand why they don't want anything that will reduce signal even the slightest  ;D .
