genset autostart/autostop

Sorry if this is covered in other post s but to  some of us less informed a rehashing of things brings clarity. I just read this post:  Yahoo Message Number: 21487

We've relied on the auto-start, auto-stop feature several times. First time was just to check to see if it worked.  The stop happens when the batteries are at full charge or 4 hours, whichever comes first.  That, according to the book, and James Triana at FT.  Ours never has gone the full 4 hours before shutting down again.  Sure builds the confidence when boondocking for an extended period of time.  Sure scares the bejabbers out of a sleeping couple when they've forgotten to turn it "off" when they go to bed at night, too!  And yes, it stays on "auto" as long as the switch is flipped.  At least ours does.

I often wondered if our gensets are configured to autostart and then shut down at some time later with a now refreshed charge .If this is true I could confidently leave my coach stored without external power and a full tank of fuel knowing that the batteries will be maintained. Be advised that I have a charge stealer installed to ensure that the chassis batteries also get charged and floated when there is some power available.  Comments?

Check your specs to see if autostart was included.  It's not automatically part of the gen set-it's a separate module in the dog house.  My autostart switch is right beside the gen start/stop switch.
