U320 means exactly what??

I think I understand that the "U" stands for UNIbody, UNIframe, but what does the 320 stand for??

The following reference should be of some help.  Foretravel History

That website is a treasure of information on Foretravels.  Hope this helps.

The numbers were a rough correlation to the GVRW.  For a 2001 U320 the GVWR is about 34,000 lbs so the correlation is not quite there. By that time the GVWR for the U320, the U295 and the U270 were about the same.  So the U320 just indicated the level of trim and ammenities.  Maybe there is more, that is all I have figured out.

In reading the history link All 1999 U320's came with heat pumps. mine has heat strips, does AH not need heat pumps? Didn't all 1999 U320 have AH's

Thanks,

The history was interesting but a bit wooly in places and gets worse around 2000-2001.  Anyway I think I get the picture and the number meant the weight until it got to the 2001 40ft version which weighed a bit more??

I'm pretty sure it refers to the average number of people who see each one daily and wish it was theirs.  I could be wrong - it happened once before.

Once past the U225/240/280/300 levels, that's pretty much it.  U270/295/320 are differences in trim, HVAC systems to a small degree (AH vs furnace), drivetrain to a small degree (ISC, ISL, or ISM depending on year), and what options were available/allowed.  Kind of like DX/LX/EX in a Honda Accord - all a great, reliable base and as luxe as you prefer.

Powertrain was substantially bigger /better vs 270/295 trim and aquahot were other diffs. Vehicle weight ratings woul have increased as result of drivetrain being capable of towing significantly more.

Great thought of those seeing a Foretravel and wishing it was theirs. We do a lot of WalMart camping going from place to place and always enjoy the number of people who wither walk around the coach or drive around it. I believe WalMart parking lots would be a great place to try to sell a FT if one were so inclined.  ^.^d

I think I like the idea of the number of viewers and dreamers that we frequently see when we stop.  At time I feel I am running tours, which I am always pleased to do, especially when you hear the comments on the beauty of our coaches.
